Adopting...What's right for me?

There are many different ways now a days to adopting a cat or kitten, you can go through a private breeder, which is the most expensive route, a pet store, mildly expensive, or you can go through a donation based organization, like the Humane Society in your area. So which one is right for you?

Private Breeder: This is easily the most expensive way to get a cat or kitten. The kitten or cat is most likely going to be a purebred with papers. These are ready to go when they are 8 weeks old and weaned off momma.

Pet Store: This is a mildly expensive route with the price most of the time depending on the breed of the cat or kitten. Most of the kittens or cats here are bought from a private breeder and some have papers and some don't. Make sure that you play with the kitten or cat before you bring it home from the store if you can. These kittens have had some of their shots and are ready to go as soon as you are approved (yes that's right, you have to be approved) most have you fill out an application for adopting, like with a kid to find out if you'll be good pet owners, or good parents. Once you get accepted the kitty is ready to come home with you.

Organizations: These are places such as ASPCA, The Humane Society, Cat Welfare, and other private organizations around the US. You still have to fill out an adoption form and some of these cats are from off the street or just brought in and dropped off. Don't fear that, some of them can turn out to be the most loving cats ever. These are usually adoptable for a small or no fee, most of the time just a donation. Be sure to play with and get to know the cat before you adopt.

If you can try and adopt 2 kittens because they will be sure to keep each other busy. Be careful when adopting cats with small children because some cats do not like small children, the same with dogs. If you have a dog take them with you to meet the kitty to see of they get along. Once you bring kitty home spend time with them and let them know that you are there. Take a whole day just to be with the cat. if they want to hide let them, let the cat come to you. Show them around and show them everything. Have a place for just the cat to stay at night for the first couple of days, either an extra room for them or with you. Cats can be loving and friendly if treated right from the beginning, becoming a life-long companion.

Try this for your Urine Problems

Click here to go to the site

This is a simple and inexpensive way to get rid or cat urine odors and teach a pesky cat to use the litter box. When we brought home our two kittens they were litter box trained but proceeded to pee everywhere we used this and it worked, they stopped and started using the litter box. If you have problem cats check this out!
